DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Nikita Ermakov (National Research Nuclear University
MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute))\nThe Solenoidal Tracker At
RHIC (STAR) uses the Time Projection Chamber\n(TPC) in order to perform tr
acking and the particle identification. With\nincreasing statistics\, it h
as become critical to reduce systematic\nuncertainties due to TPC alignmen
t and distortion corrections (such as\nspace charge\, which has also grown
with increasing luminosity). In order\nto improve these corrections and m
onitor non-static distortions\,\nGEM-based chambers (GMT) were installed a
t eight locations outside TPC\nat the Time-Of-Flight (TOF) radius where th
ey will provide the maximum\nsensitivity to the distortions. The GMT shoul
d have resolution ~150 um\nin both longitudinal (drift) and transverse dir
ections and should be\naligned with regard to the TPC by ~200 um. To serve
that purpose we\ndeveloped the software (Cluster Finder) that searches fo
r clusters in\nADC signals of each module in both directions (longitudinal
and transverse) after the pedestal subtraction and measure its positions
and deviations. By using this information the\nalignment procedure of the
modules with regard to TPC has been completed\nand the required resolution
  was achieved.\n\nhttps://indico.particle.mephi.ru/event/2/contributions/3
