DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Dmitry Ilyushkin ()\nThe DANSS experiment at the Kal
inin NPP measures the reactor\nantineutrino flux and spectrum in order to
search for sterile neutrinos\nand to address a range of fundamental and ap
plied physics problems.\nThe readout of the detector's 1 m³ plastic scint
illator array is\nbased on a hybrid system including photomultiplier tubes
(PMTs)\nand silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs).\nHigh-precision Monte Carlo
(MC) simulations\, which\nare essential for accurate energy reconstructio
n\, require detailed\nmodeling of the PMT response. This work focuses on t
he\nanalysis of the single-photoelectron (SPE) signal characteristics in\n
these PMTs. To extract these characteristics\, the photocathodes were\nill
uminated with low-intensity LED pulses of varying brightness. The\nmeasure
d amplitude spectra were approximated using a convolution of a\nPoisson di
stribution — accounting for electron emission statistics from\nthe photo
cathode and first dynode — and a Gaussian function representing\nelectro
nic noise. By analysis of the dependence of the fit parameters on\nlight i
ntensity\, we derived characteristics for each\nindividual PMT. The averag
ed key parameters of the readout system were\ndetermined and successfully
implemented into the DANSS MC simulation\nframework.\n\nhttps://indico.par
