 he report describes a proportional counter developed for the search for co
 ld dark matter\, presumably consisting of hidden photons\, in the PHELEX e
 xperiment (PHoton-ELectron EXperiment). The two-cathode counter is aimed a
 t searching for diurnal variations in the count rate of single electrons e
 mitted from the surface of the metal cathode of the proportional counter\,
  presumably as a result of the photoelectric effect caused by the conversi
 on of dark photons on the surface of the metal cathode. Measurement result
 s and directions for possible further development of the experiment based
