Performance study of the Beam-Beam Counters (BBC) for the dd - scattering at the Spin Physics Detector (SPD)

Description

A simulation of the performance of the SPD BBC detectors for dd collisions at energies up to √s_NN = 13.5 GeV is presented. The results are compared for the following event generators/models: Geant4 FTF, PYTHIA 8.3, UrQMD, and DCM. Contributions from both elastic and inelastic processes are considered, and the possibility of selecting dd – elastic and dp – quasi-elastic scattering events using the Beam-Beam Counters is discussed.
