Description

This work addresses the combined use of photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) wavelength‑shifting (WLS) plates within optical modules of the Hyper‑Kamiokande outer detector. The goal is to identify the PMT parameters that critically affect the module’s light yield and the veto efficiency. A comparative analysis of several PMT types with different photocathode characteristics and dark‑noise levels is performed. Special attention is paid to the local cathode sensitivity at the optical contact area with the WLS plate, as this factor governs the conversion efficiency of the shifted light.
